Seρsis Research is the UK’s charity dedicated to fundraising for sepsis research and raising public awareness of the condition. We fund the evidence and innovation needed to improve the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and long-term recovery of people affected by sepsis.
The charity was founded in 2013 by Craig Stobo after his wife, Dr Fiona Agnew, and their unborn daughter Isla died from sepsis in 2012. What began as one family’s determination to make sense of an unimaginable loss has grown into a UK-wide mission: to fund the breakthroughs that will stop sepsis stealing lives.
Seρsis Research backs high-quality studies at the crucial early stages, when promising ideas often struggle to secure support elsewhere. Our funding helps researchers develop new tools for earlier and more accurate diagnosis, explore better treatments, understand why sepsis affects people differently, and improve life after sepsis.
Every funding decision is guided by the Top 10 Seρsis Research Priorities, set by patients, families and clinicians together. We also work with researchers, NHS partners, policymakers, supporters and people with lived experience to ensure that research is relevant, rigorous and translated into better outcomes.
Seρsis Research is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation, regulated by OSCR, and works across all four UK nations
